Last week, the area I live in was suffering through a heatwave. While I don’t mind summer and the sun, I don’t do well during temperatures that are too high. In the past, I couldn’t even enjoy my daily coffee, but luckily, a few years ago, I discovered the joy of iced coffee drinks and that’s what I have during those hot summer days.
According to the National Coffee Association, the percentage of Americans who drink iced coffee beverages has been increasing every year. Everything started with the increasing popularity of cappuccinos and mocha lattes. Coffee addicts discovered that their favorite beverage is just as tasty, and even more refreshing, when it’s served cold during a hot summer day.
When it comes to preparing your own, I can assure you that it’s not more difficult than making your own iced tea. These days you can find a variety of options, like flavoring syrops, cold mild, and more to create your personal favorite iced coffee.
Whether you love an iced vanilla mocha, and iced rum coffee or a more regular iced latte, you don’t need to stress. Everything can be made at home and taste just as good, or maybe even better, than you would ordering it at your favorite coffeeshop. To help you get started, I collected a few tips to prepare your own refreshing iced coffee drinks at home.
4 Tips To Prepare Refreshing Iced Coffee Drinks
- When you start preparing your favorite iced coffee, it’s important to first pour the flavoring syrup into your cup. Follow that up with the espresso or coffee, then the ice, and last, the cold milk.
- Make sure your drink doesn’t become watered down. Instead of using regular ice cubes, you could use ice cubes made from fresh-brewed coffee. That way, no matter how hot it is, and how much ice cubes you add, your coffee will always taste like coffee.
- When brewing your own coffee or espresso to make iced coffee drinks, it’s important to use a machine that produces a high quality coffee. A Capresso CoffeeTeam machine will grind your beans right before brewing which will improve the taste.
- Be creative. The sky is the limit. When making your own iced coffee, you can add anything you want, even if it’s not what you would find in a “regular” iced coffee. Whipped cream, chocolate shavings or spices like nutmeg or cinnamon, are only a small number of things you can add to improve the taste to your liking.
