I recently spent some time in Guatemala, where I experienced a cup of coffee that was amazing and it was only a few pence! I have been trying to replicate that cup ever since but to no success. I freshly grind the coffee and have bought supermarket own “best of” range, sourced from countries in Latin America, including Guatemala but NONE have even been close to that cup I had. I am assuming its the quality of the bean that makes the difference…am I right? If so does anyone know a good quality source/brand that I can buy in the UK?

You can sign up with Gevalia, which sends coffees in the mails. They have Guatemalan coffees that are extremely heady, as well as some from other places that are just as good. You can get beans or already ground coffee from them.

not only is it the source of the bean but it is also in the Roasting of the bean. You need to go get some RAW (Green) Coffee Beans and then roast them to a variety of color, very dark deep brown for strong coffee and light brown for lighter flavor coffee.
I find that the absoulte best coffee comes from Venezula.

The coffee you had in Guatemala was probably better because the beans were fresher. I don’t know anything about what’s available in the UK.
